Target Shooting Ireland

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the UCD New Years Air Open, held on Sunday 8th January 2012.

Given the time of year it was a good turnout with 23 shooters taking part in total and a very strong showing from the pistol shooters.

In the Air Pistol competition, Modern Pentathlon's Tom O'Brien put in an excellent 542 to take first place, with Rathdrum's Caroline O'Brien and John O'Brien taking second and third place respectively.

In the Air Rifle 60 shot competition, the Defence Forces' Ray Kane, fresh from setting a new Irish international record in RIAC, continues his winning form taking first place with a score of 586. Ray was followed by DURC's Vladimir Untila and UCD's John Lancaster taking second and third place respectively.

This is a call to all NTSA Clubs

Firstly the Executive Committee wishes to wish all our members and clubs a Happy New Year and Good Shooting for 2012

It is now the time of the year to compile the competition calendar.  If you wish to hold both .22 and Air events on particular dates during 2012 and want these dates included on the calendar on our website please do the following: Review the current provisional calendar on this website, select your prefered date, then click here to contact the Rifle Cordinator and give your dates. I will review, advise of clashes and then place on the calendar as a Provisional Date.

Please send your dates by the 1st of February so the calendar can be finialised quickly.

The latest NTSA Air Rifle Classification List is now available, valid from 1st December 2011.

Ray Kane and Paul O'Boyle swap places at the top, with Ray's excellent 584 at the UCD Winter Open resulting in him becoming the county's number one shooter again. Elsewhere in Class A, every single shooter improved their average - a trend we hope to see continued. Sean Baldwin also made a return to Class A.

Further down the list, most of the novices showed off the benefits of their colleges' trainging schemes with improved results across the board.

Congratulations to everyone who took part the UCD Winter Air Open, on Thursday 24th and Sunday 27th of November 2011.
There was a great turnout over both days with 46 entries in total with great scores and personal bests put in.

Ray Kane from the Defence Forces Shooting Team won the 60 shot air rifle competition with a score of 584. There was a three way tie for second place, which was broken by inner 10's, putting DURC's Vladimir Untila second and the Defence Forces Terry Wearen third.

DURC Aisling Miller won the 40 shot air rifle competition with an impressive 386, followed by UCD's Claire Leyden in second and Kate Wilhelm in third.

In the air pistol competition RRPC's Caroline O'Brien continues her winning trend, taking another first place with a score of 541 followed in second by RRPC's John O'Brien and in third place UCD's John Lancaster.
