Following on from a call for Expressions of Interest last year and receipt of training plans, the executive committee has decided to send a development squad to the World Cup in Munich. Conor McDermottroe will represent Ireland in 50m Prone Rifle and Caroline O'Brien will compete in 10m Air Pistol. Aisling Miller, who has achieved Tier 1 scores over the past several seasons, and has reached Olympic MQS standard in international competitions in 2012, is our representative in 10m Air Rifle by virtue of her shooting standard.
The Munich World Cup, which will be held from May 23rd - 30th, is a unique development opportunity for shooters new to international competition. As well as providing an Olympic class range (the complex was built for the 1972 Olympics), it gives shooters the possibility of meeting equipment and accessory suppliers directly. Special ranges are provided for airgun and .22 to permit batch testing of ammunition from the major suppliers so as to ensure an ideal match to the particular rifle or pistol.
We wish our squad the best of luck in Munich.
