The NTSA National PR60 Championships were held on Saturday 2nd of October at East Coast Shooting Club's outdoor range in Roundwood Co Wicklow.

The event was attended by twenty one shooters with a number falling foul of the late unavoidable change to Saturday from Sunday. Despite the challenging weather conditions on the day which included blustery winds and heavy rain, the top ten competitors scored 570 or above and only 4 points separated 2nd and 8th places.

Ray Reilly of Rathdrum Rifle and Pistol Club (RRPC) won the event outright with a 60 shot score of 581 and a 10 shot final score of 99.7 giving him a total 680.7, Tony Cogan of Dublin Rifle Club (DRC) went into the final in second place with 577 but his final score of 99.2 for a total of 676.2 wasn't enough to keep Leslie Fagan of Comber Rifle Club (CRC) whose final score of 100.6 was enough to overhaul his one point deficit to Tony to finish 0.4 points ahead with a total of 676.6

The Team of Three Competition which is shot concurrently with the 60 shot competition was won by the Defence Forces Shooting Team (DFST) of Sean Baldwin, Joe O'Donohue and Terry Wearen with a score of 1,722, Dublin University Rifle Club (DURC) team were second with 1,709 and the Rathdrum Rifle and Pistol Club (RRPC) team were third with 1,703 only two points ahead of the East Coast Shooting Club team.

The NTSA wish to thank East Coast Shooting Club for the use of their range and although the late change to the Saturday caused some difficulties, the overwhelming consensus from those present was favourable and further Saturday competitions may well be arranged at the club in the future. The Committee would also like to thank Rathdrum Rifle and Pistol Club for the use of their electronic targets, without which the competition would have been considerably damper for all participants.
